Blackwood - A Handbook for Growers and End Users

Blackwood - A Handbook for Growers and End Users
By Ian Nicholas & Ian Brown.
The aim of this manual, a joint venture between AMIGO (Acacia Melanoxylon Interest Group Organisation), Forest Research and MAF, is to assemble the latest knowledge on the growing and processing of blackwood.

The manual refers to overseas sources where useful, but in presenting the New Zealand experience the manual has a local flavour. The text is intended to give practical guidance to growers or potential growers. This is underpinned by a description of the species designed to give an understanding of its growth and behaviour.

Ian has been a Forest Research specialist in species identification and evaluation since 1975. A strong interest in blackwood led him to become a foundation member of AMIGO and advance research on this species. Ian is also a member of the Australian Blackwood Industry group.
